TRUE Initiative presented in Buenos Aires, Argentina

On September 26th-27th, Oscar Delgado, a Senior Researcher for the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) presented the TRUE initiative at the South American Summit on Vehicle Emissions Control held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Summit was organized by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC), the Argentinian Secretaries of Environment and Energy, the ICCT, and the Mario Molina Center. The Summit covered a series of workshops and presentations to enhance the energy efficiency and environmental performance of vehicles in the region.

The first day of the event was dedicated to Compliance and Enforcement of environmental regulations to control the emissions from the vehicle fleet. Juan Trebino, Argentina’s Undersecretary of Compliance and Recomposition of the secretary of Environment and Sustainable Development mentioned in his opening remarks that “No public policy can be adopted without clear and complete information based on what is happening in the real-world”. Oscar Delgado, highlighted the TRUE initiative as a source of real-world emissions data that could better inform policy makers. The second day covered the Soot Free vehicles initiative with a focus on heavy-duty vehicles.

The audience included representatives from the Ministries of Latin American countries, vehicle manufacturers, and transport operators, as well as international experts and members from academia and civil society with a total of over 70 participants.
